Poppy had always been fascinated by the Hogwarts library. There was so much lovely information, all stuffed on thin little pages and placed on shelves...Some were kept under lock and key. Many of those particularly fascinated Poppy. But she was happily enough with the generous charms section. She could even conjure up a nice fluffy armchair if she felt like it. Sadly, they only lasted about five minutes, before she would drop to the floor with a thud. I really don't understand why people enjoy hanging out outside of Hogwarts. I mean really- there are so many interesting things here! And so much more useful than some gadget from Zonko's. Not that Poppy had ever been to Zonkos. But still, that pub she'd visited had reeked so badly that she felt no desire to go back to Hogsmeade any time soon. Books did smell so much better.

Bradley walked in to the liberary. He looked around and spotted Poppy, the girl he'd met at the pub. He waved a friendly wave and walked up to her. "Hi" he whispered he took a quick glance over his shoulder to make sure he wasn't going to get in trouble and countioued. "How are things going. I didn't see you in charms." He mentioned this because she had a charms book. "Are you not taking charms this year? Or are you super smart so you just jumped like 6 class ahead of me." By now Bradley was sitting a regular chair at a table near Poppy's arm chair. He pulled out his own charms book and homework.

Ashlyn strode into the library with tired steps, leaded feet padding against the glistening wood floor. She glanced around, eyes sweeping the long rows of bookshelves, texts stacking row after row, before resting on a peaceful little scene between Bradley (the boy she'd met in the Slytherin common room) and a girl she didn't yet know. She sighed, walking slowly to a table a bit away from their's so as to sit and write in peace... no use getting worked up over friendships (or lack, thereof). She cracked open the volume, leather spine creasing easily, and once again lost herself in someone else's world. A smile crept across her face as her eyes scanned each word, soaking in the nearly impossible tasks of the fantastic. She had almost never believed something so extraordinary could happen in her world... but, then, she was sitting in the library of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. "What use is flying a carpet when you can fly a broom?" she thought with a grin. She let down her hair with a small tug, sending the long mess of waves cascading down her back as she nestled in to her chair, completely unaware of the world around her, just as she liked it.

Poppy looked up to see Bradley, the boy she'd met in the pub. Once again, she couldn't help but stare at his mullet. It did quite resemble Tom Petty's... Wrenching her thoughts away from something as silly as hair (imagine! and in a library, when there are so many more interesting thigs to examine!), she found her voice to reply to him. "Oh, hello. Well, yes, I am in Charms, but I'm not in a special class or anything. No, I just came rather late. I was sick at the beginnnig of the year- a really bad flu. So I missed quite a bit. So, do you come to the library often?" Poppy suddenly noticed an unfamilar girl sit down a few tables away and begin to read. "Do you know that girl?" she asked Bradley, trying to point without looking too terribly obvious.

Bradley looked around at the girl and his heart jumped. Bradley started to blush. "Well, we actually just met. We came in together. She's in the same house as me. Hey you wanna sit together?" Bradley moved over and sat next to Ashlyn

Ashlyn looked up at sudden movement next to her. The boy, Bradley, was sitting in the chair next to hers with a slight smile on his face. Ashlyn reluctantly snapped her book closed and turned to face him. She had no idea as to what the odd boy would be interested in talking about, seeing as she hadn't spoken with many students in the school yet. She decided to just jump into one and see if he was at all the "friend" type. "So... umm... what classes are you taking?" she asked. She bit her lip, hoping that she'd asked a question that might lead to a better conversation. However, she kept noticing the girl in Ravenclaw robes that Bradley had been sitting with previously. She looked rather studious in the way she was leaning eagerly into her Charms book. Ashlyn already thought that she might be able to befriend this girl... she looked nice enough.

Bradley couldn't believe the happy feeling swelling in his stomach. He was beaming a huge bright smile that was incapable of fading. She wants to talk to me? Bradley had no idea what to say. “Class!” he spat out. D*mn Brad keep it cool. “Oh you know nothin’ out of the ordinary. I haven’t signed up for Care of Magical Creatures yet. I guess I should do that.” Come on Brad just relax! He flipped open his charms text book and leaned back in his chair.

Ashlyn had to hide a slight smile at the contrast between his cool exterior and his stuttering words. "I just signed up for Care of Magical Creatures... but, I myself like dark magic. I think it's really interesting...," she said, immediately berating herself for sounding like such a school-obsessed teacher's pet. She sighed lightly, realizing that the only option to actually make friends was to be natural... it was just so hard to do! She wasn't really sure how much of her true personality she could show around these people, especially not a fellow Slytherin, since she herself didn't even know why she'd been placed in the house! "Um... I like your hair," she mumbled, blushing slightly. Since when did boys drive her over the edge? Since one actually took an interest in you, she thought. She raked a hand through her own hair and chanced a glance at his grinning face. He had the most brilliant blue eyes...

Feeling a little strange, as mostly Poppy sat completely alone in the library, she moved over next to Bradley and the unfamiliar girl. "Hi. I'm Poppy." she said, frantically deciding whether or not to shake hands with her...her inner battle resulted in a strange jerky movement of her arm. She cringed inwardly.

Ashlyn noted the squirmish movements of this Ravenclaw girl with a lopsided smile. She decided to be brave and play the outgoing personality in this sure-to-be-akward oncoming conversation. Smiling sweetly, she extended her hand boldly. "My name's Ashlyn," she said. She liked this girl, Poppy, already. She was quiet, just like Ashlyn.

Bradley was more comfortable around Ashlyn but wanted Poppy around just in case. "So... that's great that we all know each other but do you think maybe we could go out side or some where...?" ANYWHERE! Bradley's thoughts screamed. He didn't like the library much. The only reason he was there was because he liked Ashlyn so much.

Ashlyn gave a slight laugh at his discomfort around the many books and the serenity of the library. She nodded, glancing outside at the bright sunlight filtering in a steady stream through the window. "Where did you have in mind?" she asked him, still gazing out the window. She fingered the old volume in her hands, fingers lightly tracing the inset on the front cover. Looking over to Poppy she asked, "where do you want to go?"

"Leave? The library? Now?" Poppy suddenly realized that she sounded like a book crazed freak. She also realized that that was what she was. Maybe a little sunshine will do you some good. Vitamins! That healthy, summery glow! No, no that causes cancer...snap out of it! Answer the question! "Err...the lake? Or, wherever really. The edge of the forest is quite nice, especially at this time of day. Or Hogsmeade. Um. I don't really go out much. What do you think?" Nice one. Answer a question with a question. Poppy began to gather up her books and stuff them into her bookbag. Well, not really stuff them. She arranged them neatly so as to not damage their spines or crease the pages. And then she had to organize her quills.

Ashlyn thought about it for a minute... where was a good place to hang out on a lazy afternoon? She did have Charms homework to finish, so she didn't mind staying in the library. But, this Bradley person seemed fully intent on fleeing the silent sanctuary. "Well, what about Hogsmeade? We could get something to eat, maybe," she said. She looked over at Poppy, who was packing up her bookbag with great precision and added, "I'm sure there's a nice bookstore. We could stop in there if you'd like." Ashlyn tucked the book she'd been reading into her bag, which she slung over her shoulder. She stood up and began walking to the door. Flicking her hair over her shoulder, she turned back to face her two new friends. "Are you coming?" she asked with a smile. It felt good to have friends again. Maybe this year wouldn't be so bad after all.

Bradley got up grabbed his books and gladly followed Ashlyn out of the library. "So where to? I guess we could go to the book store and then go to Honeydooks? Sound good?" Book store Brad? BOOKS!? why so many books..... Well hey if it gets me hanging out with Ashlyn i think i will get to like them./i]
((ooc: Meet at Honeydooks b/c there is no book store))
