"Yes, they do, and I know a magical invertebrate creature: the giant squid. We actually have one on the lake on Hogwarts grounds."

Who here has ever performed or seen another person perform a vanishing spell? What was it on?

"Oh, Oh! I do not know if these qualify for 'vanishing spells', but I've used portkeys and floo powder. My mom tells me that some of the substance in floo powder is jinxed with the Evaesco Spell'. Our old houselve also used to vanish, but I believe that is simply the skill of a house-elf.", Otis said answerinf the question.

Bradley was sitting in the back of class. He most have dosed off because he had only heard the last question. He rubbed his eyes as if to try to wake him up and then raised his hand I hope she doesn't think I'm not paying attension. Bradley looked around and thought Good. It doesn't look like I missed much.

"Well, if that counts, my da and I were fighting over who would bring the rubbish out to the rubbish bin and when I won he simply made it disappear because he couldn't bother bringing it out. It was a pretty cool piece of magic"

Bradley noticed people weren't raising there hands so he mumbled "People use it in potions instead of putting it down the sink when they are done." Bradley leant back in his seat and started to drift off again.

yes, I suppose a portkey is a vanishing type spell. Quite deffernt though. Nonetheless, good observation

yes Lyra, I suppose maybe that could have been a vanishing spell. Or was it just a charm to get the rubbish to the rubbish bin. Bradley, I dont understand what you are saying, and if I catch you snoozing again in my class, it might mean detention

So, when it comes to vanishing, I really cannot tell you much. You simply must drain your minds of all other thoughts… the potion exam, the next big quidditch game, etc. Simply swish your wand and stare directly at the object. Make sure that your wand is steadily pointed at the snail as you cast the vanishing spell. For this particular object you will say “Vaparato”<br> I do not expect that any of you will completely vanish this spell. So practice, Practice. I want all of you to practice in your common rooms. Oh, and I will check. That is how you will be graded on participation this week.
OK, here is your homework, it is due saturday. May 15
1) Why did we use a snail?
2) Give me the definition of an invertebrate.
3) Next week we will be learning about different transforming animals. I am purposely excluding animagus and do not want that included in your answer. Please give me as many transforming animals as you can think of. At least 3 please.
4) Essay: Create your own vanishing spell. Specialize the incantation words, movements. What will you vanish? All evil for the world, your younger sister, cheese… anything. Tell me why you wanted that gone from your life.

You cannot vanish people with vanishing spells, they are not powerful enough.

I have only recieved 4 hw submissions, that is not enough. That is only half the class. therefore the next lesson wil, be postponed for a bit. Oh, and just so you all know, you cannot vanish people... In your homework I allowed it because I wanted you to be creative
