Bradley walked down to the lake on a beautiful day. His Crup, Louie, had came out of its stunned state. Bradley let him drop to the ground and watched him run around the grounds happily playing in the grass and chasing bugs.

Ashlyn walked behind Bradley, anxious fingers playing with the sleeves of her sweater as she stared at her feet. She sighed, wanting badly to revel in the beauty of the afternoon, but to overwhelmed by a battling sadness inside of her.

Bradley turned around and looked at Ashlyn for a moment. "Hey whats wrong? You look sorta sad. What happened? Is it something I did?" Bradley moved a little closer to Ashlyn. He was worried. He didn't like it when people were sad and he really wanted to make Ashlyn happy, it was such a beautiful day.

She glanced up at him. She hated that he was being so sweet to her... it made it so much harder to be mad at him. After all, it was being whispered all over the school about Bradley and Ginny (and Ashlyn didn't even listen to gossip!). Nevertheless, she pulled of a shaky smile before shooting her gaze back down to her feet. "I'm fine... promise," she said. However, emotion got the best of her and she felt tears pricking at her eyes. Here she was, all riled up over a guy who liked someone else, and she was actually about to cry! Of all the pathetic things she could do at a time like that...

"There's no need to cry." Bradley gave Ashlyn a hug. He then said, "Come on, you can tell me what's wrong."

Her mind was screaming at her to pull away from the hug, but she was also trying to stop the tears. "It's nothing," she said softly. "I just... have a lot of homework," she lied.

Bradley pushed her out of the hug and held his hands on her shoulders. He smiled sweetly at her, "Homework? You're way to cool to be crying over homework. Come on sit down and we can talk." Bradley sat down and leaned against a tree. he putted the ground next to him in idication for her to sit next to him. "You talk, I listen. I'm here for you."

She smiled weakly. Oh, how she hated his charm! "I doubt you'll be able to help me with this...," she said. She looked up into his eyes briefly. "It's just that...," she glanced down, "I've never been so good with the whole 'relationship' thing... and I thought that maybe it would be better, since we're friends and stuff." Her cheeks flushed. She didn't dare look at him again. "But, Ginny...," she sighed, plopping down onto the grass with exasperation. "I'm not explaining myself well."

Bradley had a deap look of confussion on his face. He was rolling her words in his head trying to make sense of it all. "Er... Ginny?" What does she have to do with this? Bradley thought. "Did she say something?" This is more complex then potions class.

Ashlyn knew she wouldn't be able to explain herself well enough... she had to do the drastic. In a quick moment of bravery and possible stupidity, Ashlyn leaned over to Bradley and pecked him with a light, lingering kiss. She quickly pulled back and stared at her feet, her face flushed and her mind reeling. "There," she said. "Now it's out. I promise I'll leave you alone and never bother you again if you'd like... just say the word and I'm gone," she said with sadness lacing her words.

Bradley just stood there for a moment thinking Freakin' A. Darn. Shoot. That's what she was trying to say. What have I gotten my self into. "I don't want you to leave" He whispered. He picked up Ashlyns hand and turned it over. Bradley looked at her palm for and moment and whispered, "It's just that... Ginny and I... well you know." He then looked at Ashlyn and smiled. "We can still be friends. Lame! Brad why couldn't have thought of anything else to say.

As Ginny was on her way to the forestshe saw Bradley. " She ran over to him and kissed him. " Hi hunny. What are you doing? Am I interupting something I can go I have to practice for Transfiguration." Ginny said looking like she had walked in to something she didn't want to see.

Bradley was surprised to see Ginny. "Oh no, your not interepting anything." He stole a glanced at Ashlyn and then looked back at Ginny. "Louie's around here somewhere I was going to practice the stupey on him."

"Hey, no worries. You two continue, I'll just leave," Ashlyn said. She already had a few tears running down her face. She knew Bradley meant the best, but she couldn't help but feel a budding sense of loss. Whatever, Ashlyn thought numbly. This is why you don't get involved with people. This is why you stand alone. Bonds between friends is just heartbreak on a silver platter. She stood up, and tried to give a sweet, happy smile. She feared that it ended up being more of a cringe than anything else. But, she could NEVER break up two people who seem to really like each other. She just wasn't that kind of a person. So, she turned around and quickly fled the scene before dropping to her knees beneath a nearby tree and crying fully, sobs racking her body, her mind officially in the gutter. She felt the cold grip of seclusion creeping over her again as she tried to rid herself of everything she had just been feeling as his hand held hers.
