A pale, lanky person enters the front hall. Their limbs, though proportionally correct, appear disproportionally long in the way that they move; a strange integration of awkwardness and grace. Their sex is indeterminate, and so from here on they shall be referred to as "it". It has pale skin, and abnormally blue eyes, which are enhanced by the irridescent blue beads woven into its white dreadlocks. The dreadlocks, in turn, make its skin ever paler, although it is not waxy as is skin untouched by sun. Simply skin that is simply pale. About its lengthy person are draped melancholy black robes, billowing although there is no wind. Most likely a charm conjured just for dramatic effect. In its hands it carries books.

Faye watched in curiosity as the slender figure glided, in a strange combination of slight jerkiness and ease, into the hallway of Hogwarts. She noticed that the figure's robes were billowing behind although there was no wind and she was, to be honest, impressed. And this person, whether it be a girl or a boy, carried a certain mystique that instantly engaged her... Definitely a transfer student. She finally decided. Excited, she ran to catch up with the figure. "Hey, hold up!" She yelled, her bag swinging awkwardly on her side and her short hair flapping everywhere...gurh I must look like a fool Faye thought as she ran to the figure.

The pale person turns, in all its opaquely ethereal existence, to look at the girl running toward it. Its eyes are its only lucid aspect, the rest seeming vaguely shifty and inconsistent, although when one tries to pin down the exact nature of the inconsistencies, it seems improbable. It stops abruptly, watching the girl with intrigue as it waits silently.

Puffing, Faye halted just before she crashed into the new student. Then bravely mastering a smile while trying to gulp a few more breaths of air - god, why am I so unfit - she extended her hand out. "Hey. You must be the new transfer student...?" She asked, her voice full of uncertainty rather than confidence. "Or not." She added with an awkward laugh. She didn't know why but the person before her was making her rather nervous and uncomfortable.

"Are you quite alright?", it asks, concerned. Its voice is calm, perhaps the only unintimidating feature that it possesses. It looks at her, perhaps searching for some recognition. "Yes, I am the new transfer student. I am called Dusk." It half-bows, awkwardly, its movements indicating an unfamiliarity with its own body.

"Yes. I'm fine." Faye said stiffly, not knowing what else to say. But she was relieved that in between her panic and confusion, the figure introduced itself ((lol)). "Well I'm Faye." She smiled and gave an animated bow but thought immediately afterwards what if she offended the person? She scowled inwardly and the traces of her annoyance showed in her expression.

Ebin was whistling as he walked down the hallway. He paused as he saw Faye talking to someone unfamilar. He paused as he saw an attractive looking girl. S/he had white dread locks and had a certain air to her/him. "Cool..." Ebin mumbled as he stopped and turned toward to what he thought were two girls. "Hello, Ladies," Ebin said with his familar cheeky smile. But as Ebin approached he stopped. His eyebrow twitched. "I mean.. sir?" he said with less confidence as his smile faded. "Um.. yeah... Hi, I'm Ebin..." he said with embarrassment not knowing if it was a girl or a boy.

It looked relieved at the alleged break in an awkward instant, and there was a smile in its voice as it greeted the second person. It bowed again, less formally than in the prior instance. But, in its haste, its spidery hands shifted, spilling books across the hall, the echo from their impact equivalent to that of an explosion in a closed space.

Faye couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief as she saw Ebin. Thank god she thought as her tense expression relaxed into a friendly smile once more. "So...where are you fro-" She began, but the rest of her sentence was drowned out by the noise of its books falling to the ground...

It uttered some guttural whisper of apology, and then bent endlessly, like melting, to ensnare the fallen books. Its hands shook ever so slightly, a tiny tremor like the aftermath of plate tectonics. From its sleeve, it produced a pair of thin, silver-framed glasses, which it then draped over its blue, blue eyes. These seemed to calm it slightly, and the tremor in its hands slowed and was still.

"DUSK!!!!!!! Are you all right?" Sam glanced around at Faye and Ebin, "I'm Sam... Dusk sometimes has... er... trouble with sudden movement."

It crouched momentarily, unmoving, breathing slowly, before reaching out to pick up the books; Ancient Egyptian Divination and Magic by Eleanor L. Harris, Magic and Showmanship: A Handbook for Conjurers by Henning Nelms, Ancient Christian Magic: Coptic texts of ritual power by Richard (EDT) Smith and Marvin W. Meyer, Enochian Magic for Beginners: The Origional System of Angelic Magic by Donald Tyson, The History of Magic: including a clear and precise exposition of its procedure, its rites, and its mysteries by Eliphas Lévi and Arthur Edward Waite.
It clutched them to its chest, tightly, harmfully protective; the bindings nearly broke. Its eyes were bright and watery as it avoided everyone else's stares, but a conveniently inconvenient sunbeam turned the lenses of its glasses dark. Its dreadlocks fell from their irridescent pinnings, like clouds shielding the endlessly azure sky.

Enochian? Faye, who had been too busy squinting at the book covers, stood there with her feet positioned slightly inwards and knees bent. She remained in that position as she gaped in dumbstruck awe at the amount of books that Dusk had.
"Ah..." Faye began but stopped, unable to find the exact words to phrase her question. "Enochian?" She asked. Her voice rose at the end of the word and she cringed. That wasn't meant to have happened. Then realising that her feet were pointing inwards and that her knees were bent, she hurriedly snapped to her uncomfortable but normal position. She could feel it as she straightened her legs. The sharp snap. Her hands instinctively curled as she felt it.
"So, you must be new too? I'm Faye." She spoke hurriedly, almost slurred. She wanted so desperately to take her mind off it.

Yes. To quote A History of Magic; "Enochian is an occult language popularised by John Dee and Edward Kelley in the 16th Century. Dee and Kelley claimed that it was revealed to them by angels, though most contemporary practitioners of magick consider it a constructed language. The name 'Enochian' is a reference to the Book of Enoch, a pseudepigraphal text and a major source of Judeo-Christian angelology."

"So what do you think? Do you think Enochian is a constructed language? I mean it's a bit..." Faye thought carefully about what she was going to say next. "Belittling of them to say so? Anyway what you're saying is that Enochian is a language used in the Book of Enoch - makes sense - and it's the fundamental basis of Judeo-Christian angelology? Sounds interesting." She paused and looked at Dusk, impressed. "So all of this is in the book, the History of Magic?...or have you extensively covered this before?" She added with a smile.
