Hope sat at a table towards the back of the library. It was silent except for the hushed whispers of those passing up and down the vast aisles of literature. Hope pulled from her bag a large leatherbound book and proped it open on the table. Her silence was rather troublesome in her mind. She was not keen on greeting the bubbly girls that skittered about the library giggling. For all she knew they were laughing at her. It wouldn't be the first time. Hopefully someone who could identify a little more with her personality would come along...

Ashlyn entered the Library, keen on finishing up some Potions homework. She spotted Hope sitting a few tables in and smiled to herself. The girl was an enigma in herself, and Ash wanted desperately to join her in that seclusion. So much of her missed that silence that used to accompany her... now replaced by happy giggles and smiling friends. Not that she wasn't thankful for her friends. She simply missed the solitude. Ignoring the part of her mind that told her that Hope probably seeked solitude as well, Ashlyn walked slowly over to her table and sat down across from her. She was silent for a moment, before mumbling, "You don't mind if I sit here, do you?"

Hope turned her head and saw that the new arrival was none other than Ash. "Sure, i was hoping we might run into each other. I've been avoiding the others back here." She turned her head back to her book but did not proceed to read the text. At Bauxbatons, she reflected, the snooty little girls would have never given her so much as the time of day, let alone ask for her company. Her only company was the hundreds of ancient books she had emersed herself in...but now things were changing. She was no longer the outcast that she had once found herself, and the transition was to Hope, most peculiar.
