Darius ran up to the lake, and then stopped at the shore. "Faye!" he called back to her. "I haven't got my swimming trunks! Shall I just go in my clothing?" He laughed at the thought, and sat down on the sand and began draining grains of it through his clenched fist.

((this is before french in the lake, i think it's best that we make the thread for after french in the lake later coz my creativity section is currently dead te-he <----- lol)) "d**n! You beat me to it." She puffed. She sat down next to him and sighed. "I haven't got mine with me now and I don't want to go back up and get it. Let's just swim in our clothes - except off with the robes. It'll probably choke us." She tossed her Hufflepuff robe to the side and waited for Darius. "We'll jump in together." She smiled excitedly at the glittering lake.

Darius dropped his robes and tugged off his shoes and socks, explaining to Faye, "They were kind of expensive so I don't want them to get waterlogged." He stood at the shore, his arms propped up on his waist in his white button up shirt with a ravenclaw seal emblazoned on it, and his long black pants. "Ready when you are," Darius said in a serious tone.

"Oh - good idea." Faye took off her shoes and wiggled her toes in the sand. OK...1...2...3..." She jumped deep into the water and turned around swiftly to see if Darius was next to her, bubbles protruding from her mouth.

Darius jumped in along with her, slightly put off by the cold temperature. He shivered, clapping his arms around himself.

Faye surfaced and took a deep breath and swam back under, yanking playfully at Darius' skinny legs. She then went deeper and decided to see how deep the lake went, but at the moment her clothes were restricting her and her arms and legs felt heavy and cramp. Irritated she thrashed around underwater, trying to shove her lose uniform to the side and swim to the bottom. She hoped Darius would follow but if not she would see him back up again. She couldn't help feel curious as to what lay at the bottom of the lake.....

Darius lifted his leg protectively as Faye tugged it, and watched her dive into the lake's depths. Darius grew concered as a uniform floated to the surface of the lake, Faye not in it. Darius, freezing from his wet shirt and pants, took a step deeper into the water, squinting his eyes to catch another glimpse of Faye. Had she drowned? Darius continued to walk in, carefully manuevering his feet so as not to step on anything sharp or dangerous. "Faye?" he called, his voice breaking with worry. The surface of the lake was calm and mirrored, and the only thing he could see was his own worried reflection. He heaved in a great breath and stuck his head underwater. He opened his eyes. Algae clouded his view but the lake's freshwater was easy on his eyes, so he blinked flecks of green out of his sight and bubbles came out his nose as he held his breath. He swam into deeper waters, and the floor of the lake was not visible and longer. Cool, dark currents swayed and manipulated the tall underwater growth, and Darius' heart beat quickely, as he could not find her.

Her lungs busting for air and her head dizzy from the lack of oxygen she struggled to swim upwards instead. Panicking slightly, she frantically swam upwards but the water was still dark and she couldn't see the light - meaning that she was still deep under. Her limbs started to hurt and suddenly she couldn't remember what was happening and where she was going, and the lifeless body slowly made its way downwards. ((does an unconscious body float or sink?? lol))

Darius had to come up for air. He broke the surface and devoured the air, treading water frantically as his pants and heavy belt dragged him downwards. As he recovered, flailing his arms and legs to keep him floating, his eyes were trying to see through the clouded lake water, for any sign of Faye. He had not seen her come up for air, which was a very bad sign. Darius' breath began to catch in his throat and his eyes began to dart around. He wish he had been taught a spell handy for the situation.... Darius, clambering to maintain stability as he reached into his pockets for his wand, pulled it out and held it in a tight grip. The water sloshed over his head and filled his mouth as his synchronized tread was failing him, now that he only had the use of one free arm. Before he sank under, however, he managed to spit out the words, "Point me to Faye!", and his wand sprang to attention, acting as a compass. The wand tip was pointing downwards at a frightening decline, and tilting even further by the second. If Darius had let the wand direct itself for half a minute more, the wand would be pointing straight downwards.
Darius knew that this was a horrible sign....it meant that Faye was either sinking quickley or being drawn to the depths of the lake by some lake creature, possible the giant squid, or a grindylow. So Darius sucked in a large breath, and ducked his head under the water, using the glowing tip of his wand as a guide. The water was dark and murky as he went lower, and his ears felt unpleasant as the pressure got worst with the low altitude. But Darius was almost entirely unaffected---the swimming team at his old Muggle school had made him immune to horrible symptoms of water pressure, so he continued onward. He saw a figure in the darkness, and he quickened his pace, praying that it was Faye. His wand tip was now blinking furiously as he neared the shape, and the sudden lights hurt Darius' eyes as they sliced the dark. Darius saw hair, and he swept it back with his hand. It was Faye's face. She looked as if she was sleeping. Darius recognized it as unconciousness and quickely circled his arms around her waist, and tried to drag her to the surface. But his breath was burning in his throat and lungs as he struggled, and his eyesight became spotted and wavy. He tried to remain calm as his conciousness slipped in and out, but he kept up the pace. In his mouth, it felt as if hot pain had replaced all oxygen, and his eyes were blotched with black as he fought to keep moving. Their heads broke the surface, and Darius choked and gasped in air. He put his wand in his wet robes and began to kick their way to shore, still having a strong grasp on Faye. Ground was felt beneath Darius' feet, and as he walked up the inclined sandbank he tried to talk to Faye, tried to get her out of her death-state. They reached dry land and Darius, panting and panicking, laid Faye on the sand. He kneeled over her, and stared at her, pulling thick wet clumps of hair off of her face. He leaned down and tried listening for her heart.

As Faye's body was let down onto firm ground and her hair was swept away from her face, the chilly wind swept her back into consciousness ((wouldn't really happen like that in the real world but....lol)) She spluttered and looked up, her brown eyes murky from the water, and saw Darius leaning over in concern. Coughing she sat up and wiped her face with her wet sleeve. It took her exactly two seconds for her to realise that she had slipped into unconsciousness underwater and that Darius had just saved her again. "Thanks. What would I do without you?" Faye chuckled slightly. "Thanks." She repeated softly, relieved and overwhelmed by what had happened.

Darius heard her talk and immediatly gave her a tight hug. "YOU'RE WELCOME! I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!" he cried.

"No, I am not dead, thanks to you." She added, slightly being suffocated, she returned Darius' hug. "Can we go back into the castle. I need to get some dry clothes." She laughed, feeling cold all of a sudden.

"Oh, sure!" Darius said, elated and full of adreniline. "And I need some warming up. I think I'm going to go to the prefect's bathroom to shower."

"Actually good idea. I might go and have a bath or something. But in our way we've got to get dry clothes. Then maybe we can crash a common room and have something warm to drink?" She suggested, grateful to be alive and moving again.

"yeah, good idea," Darius said absentmindedly while squeezing water out of his shirt and grabbing the robes and shoes that he had left at the shore. He shook sand out of them and put the robes on, thankfull for their warmth. Darius picked up Faye's robes and offered them to her.
